Your Myth Here < Back Previous Douglas Tausik Ryder Your Myth Here Douglas Tausik Ryder has always had the desire to push the creative boundaries of sculptural art through technology. Inspired by innovation, the artist combines the conventional form of woodworking and contemporary technology, bringing a 21st century conversation to traditional wood working and sculptural practices. Utilizing mass production and 3D modeling, Tausik Ryder transcends the limits of the hand-tool oriented medium and creates his sculptures through an industrial CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine tool. Each individual piece is created with the digital cutting tool and is refined and assembled by hand. Through technology-assisted art, Tausik Ryder challenges the ways in which artists can interact with conventionally analog processes while bringing forth conversations concerning mass media, automation, and artificial intelligence. With dynamic bouts in academics, literature and writing, teaching, illustration, and animation leading up to her arrival in the urban art sphere, the influences of these phases of her own career add up to a robust style of murals and fine art. Lauren's work is influenced by dreams, mythology, death, comics, love, sex, psychedelia, animation and her Asian-American heritage.

Renee Chowdhry < Back Diary Entry By Renee Chowdhry Dear Diary, As I near the end of my high school career, I realized how swiftly time moves. I feel like I remember the first day of freshman year as vivid as the color of a pink rose, as defined as the veins on a flower petal, as distinguishable as a singular rose in a vast desert. Yet, as I am nearing the end of junior year, I feel I have no recollection of the past three years. One bright afternoon I decided to drive to my last house to see where my academic journey began. As I reached the driveway, I suddenly became overwhelmed with a surge of melancholic emotions as I realized that this was once the driveway where I first rode a bike, and now I am driving a car. Soon after, a rose I planted over ten years stood in full glory. At this moment, I was joyous of the perseverance of the rose, so I started admiring its glorified features. I noted that the soil was fertile, that it had been receiving a steady amount of water, and quite shockingly, the bush was now several inches taller than me! Though there were all these differences, I couldn’t help but realize that there were similarities too. Firstly, we both spent our childhood in the same house, and now, after all these years, we have both matured. I wanted to further connect myself to the rose bush, so I put myself in the plant’s shoes, or better said it’s “roots”. I took a more augmented look at the surroundings and came to the conclusion that the rose bush had faced many hardships. First off, roses are not native to a dry, arid desert climate; therefore, there must have been a great struggle to become a thriving bush from just a few seeds. Additionally, I noticed the wear on the roses, as only a few were in bloom. I started to connect this back to my life. I realized that though the plant’s fate was against all odds, it somehow managed to rise stronger than ever. I thought back on all the hardships I have gone through, and every time I reflect, I realize that I have become a more resilient person after. So, I guess, even though my childhood is rearing towards an end, I have blossomed into a more mature person. Previous Next

back to list Kim Sielbeck Kim Sielbeck is an illustrator, painter, and surface designer. Her colorful, fun illustrations can be found on packaging, clothing, magazines, and murals throughout the world. Kim was greatly influenced by her few years living in Hawai’i as a child, and moved back in 2017 after eleven years in New York City. Kim recently got married to her best friend Bryce (mid-Pandemic!), and now spends most of her time in southern California in the Mojave Desert. When not drawing, Kim travels to new places far and wide, enjoys long walks, likes making friends (except when beating them at Catan), plays guitar (check out her old band Puppies ), reads, and tries new recipes.

< Back Relic Bozigian Gallery Stephanie Buer Combining the clarity of realism with the delicate qualities of oil painting and charcoal, artist Stephanie Buer creates instances of documentation and expression that create quiet and contemplative landscapes. Her practice is tedious and labor-intensive, a testament to the photorealistic accuracy of her scenes. Relic showcases Buer’s interest in these dilapidated spaces. Her immersive mark-making brings viewers closer to these environments and allows for an intimate view. The deterioration of infrastructure and its adornment with overgrowth and graffiti are on full display, demonstrating the clash of human-made processes and the natural world. Buer shows that these structures are products of the passage of time yet are frozen in their current ephemeral state. Discover Trunks Lancaster Museum of Art & History is proud to offer the Discover Trunk program: a free traveling trunk program where members of MOAH's Education Team give engaging on-site presentations about different historical topics. Currently, the museum provides the following Discover Trunk topics: Dinosaurs, Ice Age, Ancient Egypt, and Aviation & Aerospace. Discover Trunk presentations are available for education sites, libraries, youth organizations, homeschool daycare groups, community/recreation sites, senior centers, special events, and more. Each Trunk presentation is about 45-60 minutes long and features a variety of tangible objects and artifacts. We’re excited to announce MOAH on the Move, a new program that continues to offer arts and community engagement to the Antelope Valley during the museum’s temporary closure. MOAH will be closed for renovations from August 21, 2022, through May 12, 2023.
