Blue Grass, Green Skies: American Impressionism and Realism from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art

September 27 - January 4, 2026

Impressionism, first pioneered in France by artists like Monet and Renoir, revolutionized painting with its loose brushwork, vibrant color, and focus on light. When introduced to the United States in 1886, American artists embraced its spirit while adapting it to reflect their own culture. Over the next decades, Impressionism evolved into a distinctly American art—optimistic yet attuned to the realities of a rapidly changing nation. This exhibition, drawn from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, traces that transformation.
