1. In 2007, Armstrong's F-18 conducted the first successful automated aerial refueling demonstration without pilot assistance.

2. The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronamy (SOPHIA) makes a low pass over NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center in celebraton of its arrival.

3. An artist's conception shows the Lockheed X-59 in flight. The X-plane's shape is designed to reduce sonic booms and lead to supersonic flight over land.
