Diane Silver
Stones Throw
For Diane Silver, working with her hands is a transformative act taking inspiration from the natural world. Silver utilizes ceramic, wax, and textiles like hemp and thread to create organic forms that resemble those in nature. Silver allows for the material to speak for itself with a raw and organic feel. Her work is minimalist, characterized by its simplicity through her use of clean lines and natural materials.
Her works have spoken to the gendered division of labor or touched upon themes of religion through abstraction. Stones Throw explores an alternative way of measuring the passage of time, marked by the menstrual cycle.
