plein-air painting competition

The Museum of Art & History is holding it's very first plein-air painting competition. The competition is comprised of a full day event in which participants will be creating a one of a kind plein-air painting which will then be judged and presented to the community for awards.

important info

  1. Pre-Register online at lancastermoah.org/pleinair (no registration fees).
  2. Check in on June 22 at MOAH’s front desk between 2 and 2:45pm.
  3. Get your canvas or paper stamped when you check in. Canvas must be completely blank (pre-painting is not allowed, gesso layer is allowed as long as the canvas is blank and dry).You are responsible for bringing and putting together your own set-up (including paint, canvas, brushes, easels, chairs, umbrellas, sunscreen, hats, etc.).
  4. You can set up anywhere along Lancaster BLVD from 10th Street West to Sierra Highway (sidewalks and non motor transport ways only).
  5. No size limit on canvas (bring what you can paint in 4 hours).
  6. Painting will commence at 3 pm and end at exactly at 7pm.
  7. All entries must return to MOAH by 7:30pm to be eligible for prizes.
  8. Judging will take place in MOAH’s classroom.
  9. Awards and prizes will be announced the same day at 8:00pm.
  10. In addition to receiving cash prizes, winners will be featured on MOAH’s website and social media platforms.
